It started with uncertainty. Originally beginning as a small hobby, The Rustic Pigeon was created in 2019. Since then, it has become much more than a hobby, but more of an art form. Choosing to look at everything in a design sense, it has taken over 4 years to transform into what it is today.

In 2019, I was only 18 years old, not even graduated from high school. I hadn’t unleashed this creative side of me. This being until, Chelsea, owner of Red Poppy Pickin’ and my best friend, offered my consignment space in her store. Which is hastily agreed to. I never expected to be as deep into it as I am now.

Now, in 2024 with hand selected wholesale items, hand-painted items for each season, pieces of furniture that I had never expected to come across. History being places into my hands for a revamp to earn itself a place in modern day households. I found my passion for doing through this business and have not looked back sense. Watching a display come together or fall apart. Reworking a paint job or simple brush stroke because I wasn’t a fan of it. It has all become a part of my day-to-day and I wouldn’t change a single thing.

The name of the business? Well that’s easy. Rustic; its what we do or try to imitate. Pigeons? Well who doesn’t admire a pigeon every once in a while. They are goofy, locked in out their target and sometimes…. just a little plain annoying. That was the goal. To make some type of noise that someone would hear in this industry. That day hasn’t necessarily come yet, but you can bet your tail feathers it will.
